It was SUCH a beautiful day for a photo shoot at the Dallas Arboretum. We really lucked out with 77 degree weather on a rather cloudless January afternoon. The girls had so much fun and looked adorable in our Summer 2012 collection pieces.

Looking at this photo, I'm sure you're wondering how we're pulling off Summer shots. You'll be pleasantly surprised. :)

Dallas Market Center/World Trade Center

Texas is finally starting to kick into winter with cold weather! It's actually starting to feel like the holly jolly holiday season that it is. :)

As someone who is very new to the industry, I was super excited today to go to the World Trade Center in Dallas. It was a little overwhelming with all of its fabulous merchandise inside, but I somehow managed to leave without anything for myself. :) I did however leave with some fabulous ribbon swatches for our adorable bows!

I'm about to start a fun project for our corporate office and can't wait to share the progress with you. Maybe you will even have better ideas for me as I begin creating it! Take a good look at it and let your imagination take control! It's a great Do It Yourself project! :)

Making the Spring 2012 Catalog

Yes, it's the time of year when Vintage Couture designers finalize the Spring 2012 line. (That means making final adjustments to the production samples for the next season.) The Corporate Office team meets with potential models, checking fit of the garments and confirming availability with the photo shoot schedule. Marketing finalizes the catalog layout and meets with the photographer and his team, while Design makes last-minute alterations to make sure everything fits the models perfectly.

Everyone anxiously watches the 10-day weather forecast because we will be shooting on location in mid-November. In Texas that could mean anything from warm and sunny, to thunderstorms to cold and windy. If you've ever been to Texas, you'd know the weather is completely unpredictable. A few years ago, in Austin, we had a beautiful 80-degree day that ended in snow!

We have four days to capture the essence of the Spring 2012 line and we don't want to miss this opportunity! So, Monday when rain is predicted we reschedule everything and plan to shoot our studio shots the first day. If you noticed, I mentioned shooting on location and in studio. We've never shot models in a studio setting, so this will be a new look for us. We want to feature the intricate details that make Vintage Couture clothing so unique and studio lighting allows us to do just that. It actually doesn't rain Monday, but you guessed it -- now Tuesday's forecast is full of thunderstorms! (It ended up being the most beautiful day.) On Wednesday, the Cold Front arrives! Yes, we capitalize that because it's always a news event. The wind picks up as the temperatures drop. We run for blankets to shield our little models who are waiting patiently in Spring designs while the photographers adjust for the changing light. By Thursday afternoon, we are already done with the shoot. We load all of the props, accessories and clothing in our cars and head back to the office. It's been a great week!

At this point, I can't tell you too much about the line, (a good designer does not reveal anything until the launch) but I can tell you this -- there are so many new designs and fabrics and details to be excited about. The Spring catalog will be something to look forward to! There might be other new and big additions to look forward to as well... :)

World Diabetes Day

As most of you know, Vintage Couture is a proud advocate of diabetes - juvenile diabetes in particular. Every November 14th, over 160 countries and territories celebrate World Diabetes Day!

Meet the Staff: Lisa Welsh

Had a bad day at the office? Well, I hope you have a Lisa there. Every day starts out with sunshine radiating off of her, and its not from her beautiful blonde hair! Lisa has that bubbly easy-to-talk-to personality. To top it off, she starts most mornings off with giving everyone a hug! She walks about the office telling everyone good morning and seeing how they are. It's the most uplifting early morning hello, a if working for the coolest company on the face of the planet isn't enough! :)

Lisa is our Manager of Field Relations, and if you are a Fashion Stylist, you mostly likely know this better than I do! Lisa spends her day communicating with the Vintage Couture Fashion Stylists and those interested in becoming one. Lisa loves her job. "I get to be involved with and touch peoples lives because I talk to the sales force. I solve their issues and make an impact." I asked for some examples of what people call her for, and she said that the concerns are limitless. Examples may be to ask for trunk show ideas, helping with recruiting, or just needing a little advice. People also call to tell her of their achievements because they're so excited!

Lisa helped founder Jessica Wiswall start this company. They met 11 years ago at a Gymboree play and music class when their two oldest boys were little. "We just hit it off and were inseparable," Lisa recalls. She thinks back and says "Jessica is creative. She had an itch to start a vintage line. We were together every day, and she needed help. I helped her start the company and became her business partner. I was always the people person. I was Customer Service! The warehouse was in my garage!"

Lisa has two boys, ages 12 to 9. She's been married for 16 years and her life revolves around her family. She's very active at her church and volunteers. Outside of Vintage Couture, she's running between her boys' baseball and football games, or guitar lessons and drum lessons! After the birth of her first son, she left elementary education to become a stay-at-home mother. She says, "And I thought I would be a stay-at-home mom forever! ...Little did I know!"

Supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

VintageCouture, Inc. helped raise money and awareness for the JDRF in their Walk to Cure Diabetes event on Saturday,September 24. In this extended portionof a Texas summer, we were lucky to arrive bright and early to a beautiful morningwith a cool breeze. It was a perfect dayfor a 5K!!

Hundreds ofpeople showed up to participate and enjoy the weather. Music was blasting while people danced in themidst of vendors, games, bounce houses and train rides. When the time came, a horn was blown and themasses took off at an explosive and exciting pace. Many took their time, chatting and laughingalong the way. T-shirts showed offmembers of groups created in support for specific diabetic children andfriends. We, of course, wore our VintageCouture shirts proudly!!

Round Top and Warrenton, Texas = Vintage Fun!

Hi VC fans! This is VC Junior Designer, Monica, reporting to you all from Round Top, Texas!! Designer Yvette and I are here searching through thousands of vendors for vintage fabrics and props. The Texas heat tried to keep us from reaching our goals with highs of 106 and 104 degrees (as the vendors’ thermometers showed!). However, we trekked on and took only the best of the vintage prints! We can’t wait to go back to corporate to show Jessica what we’ve found!

Round Top and Warrenton are two neighboring towns between Austin and Houston. It is very close to Bastrop, TX, where the wild fires took hundreds of homes. It’s incredibly hot here and Yvette and I were saddened at seeing the cattle eat something unseen, and hopefully green, in the field of dirt. Though this area looks starved for water, the people and buzz around here reflect nothing but excitement for this week-long extravaganza! There are SO many vintage items here -- all with their own histories and memories attached. It’s incredibly inspirational!

If you love all things vintage and experiencing nostalgia, you need to come to one of these events!!

On a happy note, there are little showers and storms going on right now. Though not much, the area is rejoicing due to the much-needed rain, and the relief from the baking sun.

Meet the Staff: Yvette Day, Designer and Production Manager

From small town Kaplan, Louisiana, Yvette Day was just 7 years old when she began

making her own patterns and sewing. In high school she worked as a pattern maker

and assistant designer, then left to attend Wade College in Dallas, Texas, to pursue

a degree in fashion design.

In my role as Junior Designer, I work closely with Yvette. A team player in design and a strong production manager, she lives and breathes her job... enjoyably. Even when things look

stressful or don’t work out quite right, you’d never know because she has no time to get upset as she’s already fixing and adjusting it. Before you know it, there is no reason to fret!

That’s the kind of designer and manager that Yvette is. She’s quick and reliable and an amazing problem solver. She understands what needs to be done for...everything! While I’m learning SO much from Yvette about the industry, I’m also realizing that you will always have fun doing what you love, no matter the hours.

Yvette has been working in the fashion industry designing children’s clothing since 1989. She started with My Vintage Baby in February of 2008 and currently holds the position as Designer/Production Manager for Vintage Couture. One of her major responsibilities is communicating with manufacturers in China to make sure production goes smoothly. Her day begins early, around 3:30 AM to check emails and communicate with the factory during their work hours. Yvette has a vast knowledge of production and design. She is involved with every garment up until it’s ready to launch.

About work, Yvette says, “I love every part of my job, but my favorite part is sketching, seeing

our designs come to life and seeing a child wearing our designs. I also love traveling to

China and Hong Kong.”

Yvette’s hard work was recently acknowledged at the recent Divas in Dallas event,

the first annual sales force meeting for Vintage Couture. She received the first-ever

Employee of the Year award..

Yvette's son, Luke, featured in the Vintage Couture Fall/Holiday 2011 catalog.

Yvettes parents and three brothers still reside in Louisiana while she has made a home here in Texas with her husband Terry and their “beautiful almost 5 year old boy named Luke”. She loves “Cooking, traveling, being with family and friends. And of course working!”

Days of the past ...and then some

Vintage-

Vintage cars, clothes, wines and furniture. Vintage decor and accessories, wall paper, tea sets and postcards. Cameras, photos, suitcases, airplanes. The list goes on! And while so many objects fall under the vintage category, so do a lot of decades.

It seems like almost any decade besides the current one provides us with a vintage something or another.

It's interesting to think that as you could categorize an old Victorian pin with a '60s knee high boot! Very different, yes, but still just as vintage. In fact, vintage trends tend to move along the timeline as years pass. It's just another sign of fashion cycles.

I define “vintage” as a word that suggests both nostalgia and quality or importance. Most people have an initial thought when they think of the word vintage, even though it covers a broad subject.

Tell us what you think about when you hear the word “vintage,” and share your favorite past trends that give you that familiar feeling of nostalgia.

Vintage Couture Inc. hosted its first annual Sales Force Convention, Divas in Dallas, July 22-23! It proved extremely successful because of our wonderful (and fun!) sales force and hard-working corporate staff! It was incredible to see 50 VC Stylists meet and inspire each other. It was also great for the corporate employees to get to know the Fashion Stylists.

The event kicked off Friday night in Frisco, Texas with a banquet and awards ceremony. Corporate staff members were introduced, followed by every single one of our Fashion Stylists in attendance!

In between dinner courses and dancing, we recognized and rewarded the Quarterly Award Achievers, Top Ten Personal Sales, Top Ten Recruiting, Distinguished Diva, and Top Ten Team Sales. And throughout all of this excitement, we had numerous raffle prizes and a Coach Handbag give-a-way!!

On Saturday, VC’s celebrity designer Trista Sutter was there to take photos with the Fashion Stylists and offer words of encouragement at the luncheon. The Stylists were then surprised with a sneak peak of the Fall 2011 Look Book. Afterwards, the fall collection was introduced by designers Jessica Wiswall and Yvette Day; Operations Manager Karen Landis; and designer Trista Sutter.

Following the event, Trista headed to the design studio ready to begin work on her Spring 2012 line for VC. The design team and Trista worked together Saturday afternoon enthusiastically!

While Trista and the design team focused on the Spring 2012 line, Fashion Stylists attended training sessions taught by fellow Stylists to help them become more successful and productive in their business. The agenda included Building a Direct Selling Organization (by Sara Hendricks), Tips for Strong Team Building (by Cindy Boyd), Marketing your Business (by Cassity Reed), and Trunk Tips (by Shannon Rosiere).

A huge thank you to our teachers for the workshops who delivered informative and inspirational messages to other VC Stylists. Thank you to those who participated and helped make Divas in Dallas an exceptional weekend to remember in Vintage Couture history. Near and Dear to Vintage Couture

Whether or not you believe in coincidence or fate, or just plain ol’ good luck, you will be touched by this story. In June we ran a contest for a $100 gift certificate. As you can imagine we had many, many entries. One lucky winner was chosen randomly, and her name is Amanda Hammers.

Congratulations to Amanda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After receiving her gift certificate, she immediately purchased some clothes and graciously sent us several precious photos with her adorable daughter wearing them. Not only did we notice how sweet Kaydence looked, but the device on her arm looked very familiar to our designer Jessica. This device is called an Omnipod, and as Amanda says, “It has become Kaydence’s best friend”. Kaydence was born with Diabetes Insipidus, and at age 2 was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. This Omnipod delivers Insulin as her body requires it, and monitors the glucose level, making it easier to manage her life with this disease.

Where’s the coincidence, you ask? Well, as you may or may not be aware, our designer Jessica has 3 adorable children, all of whom have Type 1 Diabetes, along with her husband. All of her children also have the Omnipod, which is how she recognized it so quickly in the photo. Because of Jessica and her family, Vintage Couture donates 3% of our net profits from each sale of Trista Sutter’s collections to the JDRF, (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), which is the largest charitable funder and advocate for type 1 diabetes research worldwide.

Now, I understand that unfortunately many children have this disease, but what are the chances that Amanda would randomly win a gift certificate to a company that is so connected to the disease as well as the Foundation? We found it ironic, and that’s why this story was written. It may be coincidence or the “luck of the draw” and nothing more, or maybe, just maybe, it was something more.

Relatively new Vintage Couture Stylist, Cricket Martin, discovers something wonderful in selling VC clothing with the success and opportunity it gave her to reach out and give to the community.

Read her story about how she, with the help of her Vintage Couture customers, was able to raise money and donate brand new VC clothing to 49 homeless children in North Texas.

The Vision: I joined Vintage Couture in late April and launched my first Trunk Show in mid-May. From that day and every day since, I have been absolutely amazed at the positive response I received to such a gorgeous line of clothing! At month's end, I felt an overwhelming desire to give back some of my "first fruits" from such an outstanding first month. I feel as though God led me directly to The Samaritan Inn. I felt strongly that working together, we could obtain monetary donations to clothe forty-nine children currently housed at Samaritan Inn of McKinney, the largest homeless housing & training center in Collin County.

The Task: Through email and Facebook, I got word out to my new Vintage Couture customers that there are 49 children at The Samaritan Inn of Collin County who are in need of new clothing. Few, if any, have ever had something new to wear! Why not bless them with the best line of clothing offered---Vintage Couture! Friends, family, and customers put their funds together and raised almost $600 before week's end!

The Results: On June 27, I walked in the doors of The Samaritan Inn for the first time and quickly affirmed that THIS was exactly where the shorts, shirts, tops, dresses, and baby rompers were needed most! What a blessing to hand over 36 Vintage Couture items of brand, new, high quality clothing to twenty-one waiting children, ages 7 months to 17 years! Thank you to everyone who was a part of making this vision a reality! You have given many at The Samaritan Inn a "Christmas" in June!

Our Stylists and customers are truly powerful and amazing people. Thank you, Cricket, for sharing the VC love with The Samaritan Inn and giving the children who call it home a priceless gift and memory.

The Samaritan Inn has offered housing and help to the homeless for 25 years. Their mission is described as “a comprehensive homeless program that helps willing people regain their dignity and independence". Last year, over 72% of the residents left the program with an income and a home to go to.

Vintage Couture received the special company of a guest designer for the day: Puma the Beagle!

With the stress of design starting up again for 2012, this was a very appreciated visit! Hopefully Puma keeps quiet about the new designs. :-)

Also visiting and helping to relieve stress while recycling are siblings Kaylee and Brady. Their mom, Kristin, works here at VC for inventory/packaging and shipping.

We appreciate the occasional good fun and humor. It helps us all to laugh together and create memories alongside our friends at work. Uplifted spirits make for good moods and good work. Sometimes, we too, just need to be silly!

Meet the Staff, Part 2

Every work space has that one go-to-guy, that one class clown, that one friend who never fails to make you laugh. The Vintage Couture office has Aron. In a predominantly female office, you can’t miss him. I think he sounds something like Matthew McConaughey and acts a bit like a harder working Jim Halpert from The Office. He started with the company four years ago and has been nothing but pure support for VC.

He describes his job role and responsibilities here as “Warehouse Supervisor/IT/Errands/Mini Projects/Photo Assistant/Jokester”. And he’s not joking. The Vintage Couture team must work together like a family and wear many different hats. Fortunately for Aron, he gets to do a greater plethora of jobs, comparatively, doing whatever he can do and wherever he can help.

He’s infamously known as the designer, Jessica’s, go to person when she needs something specific that can’t be assigned to anyone else. You commonly hear throughout the office, “Aaaaarrrroooonn”, before seeing his smiling face by her side. Jessica comments, “Aron always make everything fun and is always willing to do anything we need.” However, Aron is MORE infamous for his entertaining approach at office life. While speaking to Karen, another great coworker here, I told her our next blog post would feature Aron. She smiled big and said that would be great because he’s worked here so long. She further commented about how fun he is and that if he hadn’t pulled a prank on me yet, he was bound to. With that said, Aron has already made my second and third week semi nerve-racking, in a good way, since I’m never sure when he’ll sneak up behind me and scare me from my concentrated state. Aron tells me he partly does this “so it’s not so stressful around here. You have a little fun. But I never do mean pranks… ‘cause that’s mean”. I’m pretty sure I have developed a third ear, just for Aron. It’s true, when I hear him in the office, it’s normally followed by laughs and giggles, and I know I’m safe. If the voice becomes quite, I typically look behind me… just to be sure. All in all, he keeps the spirit alive in the corporate office and I think it’s safe to assume that everyone here enjoys his company and appreciates the work he does.

Aron originally hails from Indiana. From there he made his way to Ohio and then Texas. He’s been here in Texas since year 2000 with family nearby. Originally an advertising major, he attended University of North Texas where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Radio Television Film. He later got an additional certificate in Audio Engineering.

When he’s not working, you can find him on the golf course with his dad or out playing rec sports like softball.

Meet the Staff, Part 1

Vintage Couture, Inc. is a growing company, and this blog allows us to include you all in its journey. It's made up of hard working people who still have fun on the job. We believe in our company, its products, and customers. I personally want to share this unique company's best qualities with you.

My name is Monica, and I’m the new Vintage Couture Junior Designer. One of my responsibilities, if you haven’t noticed, is to keep up the company blog. I’ve been here two weeks and am ready to share the VC experience with you!! I’m excited to start a series of blog posts that will introduce you to the staff here at the office as I get to know them too! It will be a journey we’ll take together, bringing to life the Vintage Couture corporate office. And trust me, it’s pretty lively around here!

I’ll briefly start with myself since you’ll be hearing from me twice a week!

First of all, I’m a proud University of Texas at Austin graduate with a B.S. Textiles and Apparel Design degree. I walked the graduation stage a year ago but went on to complete one last internship credit last summer in NYC for one of my favorite design houses, Proenza Schouler. I bleed burnt orange (Hook ‘Em!) and indulge myself in the fine arts (Music, Dance, Painting, Design). I love traveling and look at everything through artistic eyes, searching for inspiration. But in the end, I consider Austin, Texas to be the love of my life and Dallas to be my home.

I am extremely lucky to have this job and couldn’t ask for a better company to work for. These last two weeks have gone by so quickly. Every day is fun and exciting, and I don’t expect it to ever slow down. I get to do what I studied and love. What more could I ask for?!

Now, I’d like to you meet Brinda!

Brinda is in charge of Quality Control for Vintage Couture. She is a mother of two and a grandmother of five! She is originally from Oklahoma but has lived in Texas for most of her life. Something else that has been a part of most of her life is sewing. Brinda remembers how when she was in grade school, she would make very detailed doll clothing. “My Uncle said, ‘If you can make doll clothes that detailed, you can make your own clothes!”, recalls Brinda. With that she laughs at how her uncle bought her yards of a fabric, and everyone in the family got matching clothes! When asked about what she likes best about Vintage Couture, Inc., a fellow employee hollers out from the kitchen, “It’s me!”… but we’ll get to Aron next week. Brinda herself talks about the friendliness in the office and how everyone works together.

“It’s neat to see Jessica and Yvette stretched out on the floor designing. My boss Yvette, she’s just great to work for. You get to be creative, and that’s one of my passions. I’m always doing something creative at home – making jewelry, recovering furniture, decorating. I’m always doing something. I sew, draw, paint – not houses! My house needs a painting – but I love to draw and paint.”

She will have been here a year come August and works within speaking distance of me through a nearby doorway, which is probably why she’s the first one for you to meet! Two of her grandkids have been in the office, and I’ll be first to say that Brinda is THE coolest grandmother I’ve seen. She knows what pop culture references they make and sometimes ones them up! She encourages her granddaughter’s passion for fashion and takes the kids shopping!

I think we’re going to be good friends. :)

The Gift of Giving

The gift of giving goes a long way. No one knows that better than Mandie Joy, a volunteer nurse in Uganda. After unexpectedly becoming a foster mother, Mandie is now an adoption advocate and avid blogger, showing the public how the love between child and care taker is not barred by blood relation, where you grew up, or the additional factor of HIV. If you haven’t taken a look at her blog yet (http://www.mandiejoy.com/), I highly suggest you do. She’s quite the writer and photographer as well!

Vintage Couture had the unique privilege to help Mandie spread the love. Back in December, Mandie contacted Vintage Couture to ask for some donations of kids clothing. We were able to give her several boxes of clothing. It was so much that she couldn’t even carry it all back to Uganda in one trip! She was able to bring back enough to clothe the children at an orphanage, but saved some clothing for another visit. VC Photoshoot Fun: Take a look behind the scenes!

Get excited, because here at Vintage Couture we’re preparing for the next two catalogs with almost two weeks of shooting at multiple locations. We have a great team that is both professional and fun! Above- you’ll see a behind the scenes picture of Jessica- our designer- in the black baseball cap. Behind the camera is our amazing photographer Robie- we just love him and so did all the models! The kids get to giggle and play as the crew captures their smiling faces and adorable outfits. Below you are seeing sneak peaks of our Winter Café Fleur hostess exclusive collection.

This shoot begins bright and early before the Texas sun is at its best. You can find this cute and quaint old building near the Frisco Heritage Museum. The Museum represents the history and culture of a past Frisco, Texas. Located along a railroad, they have an old locomotive that we also utilized for some great shots!

Models have been arriving for their makeup and garments all day and get their turn one by one at the makeup chair, Mom’s and girls alike. Above is our cute friend Lexi, getting ready to model one of our new coats, and Vintage Couture Stylist Tamara Outland of Abilene, Texas. It is always great to have Vintage Couture stylists and their children come out to model.

We set up camp inside of Babe’s Chicken Dinner House and were extremely pleased with the private room, staff, and food! Babe’s sits right between the Frisco Heritage Museum and the railroad, allowing us a perfect air conditioned spot to settle and hold models till it was their time to go on location. If you haven’t been to Babe’s, we recommend bringing your loved ones and sitting down to a good family styled meal - our Vintage Couture family enjoyed it!

The Museum itself strives to teach about the rich history and culture of the now booming city. Sharing the area and aesthetic is Babe’s Chicken Dinner House, full of silly fake chickens, witty and comedic hand painted signs, and some of the best family styled food in the area. Their chicken is cooked in a plethora of styles and their sides and desserts alone are a great meal!

The locations we chose will capture the rustic and nostalgic mood of a vintage collector or enthusiast. You won’t be disappointed, so come back to the blog soon to see some great behind the scenes shots!

Acts of Kindness Go A Long Way

Acts of kindness go a long way, and Vintage Couture is so proud to support SPARK, (Serving People And Reflecting Kindness) which is a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Plano, Texas. We’re pleased to have been able to contribute to their honorable efforts by providing clothing for children in need, for various reasons and in various situations - all across the United States.

SPARK visionary, Molly Breitenfeld started SPARK with the dream of bringing hope and joy through ministry to those in need. SPARK is a unique ministry, where Christian women work together to counsel and support women in need - on mission trips and retreats. While the sessions are mostly short-term, they provide much-needed physical, emotional and spiritual support to women who find themselves in difficult situations.

Recently, Su Brick from SPARK Ministry sent us the photo below to share with us some comments about our donation of boutique children’s apparel: “With the many darling kids outfits Vintage Couture gave to us, we were able to put together boxes of children’s clothes that went to faith-based shelters for women and their children. We shipped garments to Hope Place in Seattle, Washington (affiliated with the Seattle Union Gospel Mission), Hope Gardens Family Center in Los Angeles, California (affiliated with the LA Union Rescue Mission), Hope Haven Home for Women and Children in Longview, Texas (affiliated with Highway 80 Rescue Mission), and the Orlando Union Rescue Mission in Orlando, Florida. From all reports, the children were delighted to receive the clothes and their mothers were thrilled to be able to provide new outfits for their little ones”.

Vintage Couture Meets Bret Michaels At JDRF Dream Gala

As you know, the cause near and dear to our hearts is JDRF - Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. JDRF hosted their "DREAM GALA" Saturday night at the Hilton Anatole. JDRF honored Bret Michaels with the 2011 Dream Gala Contagious Inspiration Award. Bret was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age six.

Vintage Couture Inc. is committed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and their goal of finding a cure for this awful disease. A percentage of profits from our sales are donated to JDRF. In addition, at every opportunity, either product collateral or interviews of Vintage Couture celebrity spokesperson Trista Sutter, we are raising awareness of the disease and the need for others to get involved in finding a cure.

The evening was fantastic, but the photos... not so much! There we were, with the winner of last year's Celebrity Apprentice and Rock of Love reality star (and a rock star that most of our employees were listening to in high school...) and all we had were our cell phone cameras.

Now that our catalog is out, we wanted to share the photos with you showcasing some of the props we used in the shoot. From Vintage airplanes and army gear to antique motorcycles and tricycle, we want to thank our friends at Willie and Francis at De Ridder Antiques for making it all possible.

You just have to check this place out. You can literally spend an entire day walking through their 55,000 square ft store and never see the same thing twice. It’s vintage paradise on steroids!!!

Family Spirit Orphanage

Last December, an amazing woman named Mandie Joy reached out to us about donating clothing for the children in the Family Spirit Orphanage where she volunteers in Uganda.

Mandie is a nurse there and lives near the orphanage, where the babies go naked because they don’t have clothes. The orphanage is mostly filled with HIV+ children whose parents have died of AIDS or were killed in the violent war going on in the northern part of Uganda.

After looking at their website, we decided we needed to help every way we could and sent the children at the orphanage several cases of clothing. Mandie was kind enough to share photos and a video of the children in their new clothes. We were moved beyond words. The smiles on their faces provided a heartwarming appreciation and gratitude words could never convey.

There are 10 girls ages 10-15 who need to go to middle school this year and they are in need of sponsors. There are also needs for practical small things like soap, beans, sugar, and chalk. We are so excited to have Kimberly Gambale join the My Vintage Baby team as a Direct Sales Representative. She is one incredible woman who is goal oriented and dedicated to success. Everything she does – she does it to the extreme (reminds me of Jessica). She juggles being a wife, mommy, running a busy home and business and designing. She’s also a Radio Talk Show Host on Heartbeat Radio USA and now she’s adding designer children's clothing from My Vintage Baby to the mix.

Some of you know her from her boutique Diane & Co, others will identify with her from her reality television show Jersey Couture.

Her mother started in the fashion industry over 30 years ago. Over those years she created an amazing company where time, dedication and customer service turned into success. Kimberly and her sister Christina joined their mother at her boutique Diane & Co and together they continue to grow the business.

The business may be large, but they run it in a family oriented manner. Relationships and partnerships are what make you successful. After years of working together their lives changed when a woman walked into their boutique looking for a Mother of the Bride dress and left the store with not only a dress but a Reality TV show idea. Thus, Jersey Couture was born.

The show, which airs on Oxygen is a tribute to their fans and allows them to take an inside look at what running a family business is all about. In the midst of the business, and filming of her show, she had an amazing baby girl, Francesca. She is truly a DIVA- Come on- her grandmother is considered a Fashion Diva!

Once her clientele and fans saw Francesca in the adorable MVB outfits, they demanded to know where she bought them. With so many of her fans crazy about the fashions, the decision to join the team was an easy one. Kimberly wanted to represent a company with strong values, a dedicated partnership and above all quality. Misty Freeman’s music gives listeners of all styles something to indulge in. Singing songs that will tug at your heart, and cause you to examine your life. Her voice is pure honesty, and soothes the tired soul.

She grew up in Hendersonville, TN. While at a youth camp with her church group, she realized her calling to use her talents to reach the unsaved and to minister in song to God's people. She returned home, and joined her parent’s band, The Freemans. She credits Allison Kraus, Dolly Parton, The Judds and Trisha Yearwood - among others, as her biggest influences.

In 1998, Misty recorded her first single, "Let Me Fall" is an old Southern Gospel Music classic that her Mother recorded and performed with the Hinsons more than 20 years ago. In 2002, Misty released her first solo project, "It’s All True" and in 2005, "Faith, Hope and Love" was released. She has been nominated for tons of awards, including a Dove Award for her "Faith, Hope and Love" release. Her new CD " What if I'm Right" really showcases Misty's songwriting talent having written 5 of the 10 songs. The song "Cinderella" is a anthem for little girls (and big girls) everywhere. Misty married Bryce in 2006 and they reside in Nashville, TN. They have a new baby, Adelaide, and love just being a family when off tour. In January of 2010, Misty opened her own Salon, Cheveux Salon & Spa Hendersonville in Hendersonville, TN. They are very active in they're local church and spending quality time with friends and family is a priority to them.

We're looking forward to seeing Adelaide in My Vintage Baby duds this year at mom's upcoming concert events.

The big day for Tea with Trista finally came and went and we have so many fun images to share! It was a great debut of the Trista Sutter clothing designs, as well as the MVB Fall designer childrens clothing pieces. We have lots to share and lots of people to thank, so here goes…

Tea with Trista was a whimsical event that combined the worlds of My Vintage Baby and Alice-in-Wonderland to formally launch the 2010 MVB fall collection. We celebrated the new line with a catalog release and live fashion show. We feasted on the finest and most delightful tea party food. We raffled and auctioned off a multitude of fine prizes for our fine guests. We had a candy bar, a live friend from “Wonderland,” a red carpet and a photo booth… and we had Trista!!! Could this get any better? Any more fun??

Doesn’t Trista look oh-so-cute? She also did a fabulous job before the event plugging the tea on WFAA channel 8’s good morning texas and with Mix 102.9 and Victoria Snee. You can view Trista’s television interview here. Be sure to watch for the awesome display of mdp photos to flash across your screen for a loooong time – thank you channel 8!!

Here is more of Trista with her troop of little winter rosettes:) Her line is called Winter Rose and is inspired by a 1950’s vintage tablecloth and her history with roses!!

Dear My Vintage Baby Fans,

I'm writing to you to ask for your support in a very special cause.

As you may know, my husband Jason, and all three of my kids-Jackson (10), Jaiden (8) and Jett (23 months) are all type 1 diabetics. Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating, often deadly disease that affects millions of people--a large and growing percentage of them children.

Many people think type 1 diabetes can be controlled by insulin (daily shots). While insulin does keep people with type 1 diabetes alive, it is NOT a cure. Aside from the daily challenges of living with type 1 diabetes, there are many severe, often fatal, complications caused by the disease.

That's the bad news... and yes, it's pretty bad.

The good news, though, is that JDRF is making steady progress toward a cure. In fact, JDRF funding and leadership is associated with most major scientific breakthroughs in type 1 diabetes research to date. And JDRF funds more type 1 research than any other charity worldwide.

My Vintage Baby is getting involved to help find a cure for this awful disease and to help raise awareness around diabetes. I'm writing to ask for your support because now more than ever, EACH of us can be a part of bringing about a cure. Each of us can make a real difference.

Here is what we can do:

1. If you order this fall, you will see a new box where you may choose to donate $1 to JDRF research. Please donate a $1 or more!

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Finding work can be tough, especially in this economy. That's why a lot of Oklahomans are starting up their own businesses. Direct sales are a way to do that.

Shopping doesn't have to mean a trip to the mall these days. These women are finding clothes for their kids at a neighbor's house.

"It's fun; it's good girlfriends and just a good time," Camille Pritchard said.

And the person in charge of bringing the fun is Cassity Reed.

"We just do a very laid back atmosphere," said Reed. "We have a come-and-go a couple hours where a hostess opens her home and has friends over."

Reed is a direct sales representative for My Vintage Baby.

"We are premier designer clothing for children," Reed said.

Finding customers isn't hard.

"So many moms get excited about dressing their children in designer clothing," Reed said.

She bought the clothes when they could be found on retail racks and when the company moved to direct sales, Reed knew it was the job for her.

"Cute clothing for my daughter and son, I can really get geared up for that and then the money is a wonderful perk," Reed said.

She makes a commission off her monthly sales and if others join her team she makes a percentage of what they make.

"I've never been intimidated talking to somebody about becoming a rep because I don't feel like they feel like I'm just out to get them on my team and take all of their sales because I'm still working my business, too in order to make money," Reed said.

Reed is one of only a handful of sales reps in Oklahoma, but the list grows with every party.

"I've actually talked to her about it before," stay-at-home mom Ashley Hartwig said.

Hartwig has been shopping around for something to do from home. She likes My Vintage Baby because it's different.

"You go to so many makeup parties and they are just all the same thing, but this is just fun," Hartwig said.

Wait until you see the new Fall 2009 collections -- our stores were going NUTS last week over the sneak peak we showed them. Most of the new samples were ready so we had a crazy photo shoot with 22 kiddos today. Wouldn't you know the day we plan the photo shoot we have snow in Texas? Who would have guessed? Our poor little models! The collections are amazing - look for the new catalog to be up online very soon. I just love the way our custom fabrics turned out - did you know we print our own exclusive fabric designs? We can't wait to hear what you think the best sellers will be! I have some exciting news! My Vintage Baby and Ritzy Baby are partnering!

Ritzy Baby is moving into the Dallas showroom with My Vintage Baby, Inc. Ritzy Baby and My Vintage Baby will be great compliments to each other as we primarily focus on clothing and they, on accessories. Ritzy Baby carries the CUTEST car seat covers ever. That is actually how Bridgett and I met- when I had baby Jett in September, Bridgett sent me an awesome car seat cover. I get stopped every time I use it. I know it will be the same when I use my Ritzy Baby high chair seat cover when Jett gets a little bigger. If you did not know, at My Vintage Baby, most of our garment fabrics are custom designs and exclusive to us . Either we have designed them ourselves or have purchased exclusive rights from the artist. We use those core fabrics when developing a collection. Ritzy Baby will have access to these fabrics and can now produce accessories to match our clothing collections. We are thrilled!

Fall 2009 Designs -- Finished!

We finally finished all of our designs today for Fall 2009- a task we have been working hard at for the past 5 months!
I am really excited about our new collections…and I know our customers will be too! We have really expanded our line- with 17 new collections!* We have had a blast putting these together. We have expanded Vintage quite a bit, have designed a layette to coordinate with every collection and greatly expanded our boy line J. In Fall 2009, we will see peace signs, tattoo work and lots of embroidery. We will feature vintage roses, tye dyes, and electric colors. Oh and yes, yes, yes, there will be several new coats for Mom… We will get to see these designs come to life in early January and I will be sure to give you a sneak peak.

*Now, I have to put the caveat here that we may not go to market with all 17 collections…the designs that we have put on paper are now being made into garment samples. Of course, some may not turn out how we envision and thus may never make it to out of our office doors.

We had a great Dallas Market that wrapped up tonight and the results are in! The best sellers really stand out and are must haves for Spring 2009.

The overall best selling Spring 2009 collection is Vintage Picnic- A unique collection inspired by the vintage tablecloth. Feminine bouquets and touches of leopard make this collection complete. Colors include: Grassy green, passion pink and bright white. The two piece pant set is our Spring best seller.

The next top seller is from the Leopard Rose collection. The Leopard Rose collection is loud, bold and lots of fun! All things girls with big roses, feminine bows and bling! Perfect for her next party! Colors: Loving leopard, proud pink and turning turquoise. The top seller here is the baby set.

winding down Spring 2009, ramping up Fall 2009!

A lot is going on at My Vintage Baby! We are very busy working on our Fall 2009 collections- and we are so excited about them! I will write a special section on this as we get a little further along in our design. We will start Dallas Market next week and will finish up the selling of Spring 2009. Production begins immediately after that- I look forward to sharing the Spring best sellers with you!
